Who is the definitive classic rock band?

Hard to define rock. I think the Beatles are the best band of all time, but I think the definitive "rock" band is probably Led Zep

Yea, I pick Led Zeppelin.

A band that contains the best drummer of all time, and one of the best guitarists, bassists and singers definitely imo deserves the title as the definitive clasic rock band.

John Bonham, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Robert Plant are all legends of rock music.

Agree with Led Zep. Definitive 'Classic Rock' band for me, although Beatles are the definitive Rock 'n Roll band imo.

Led Zep is definitely the definitive 'Classic Rock' band. I'd have to say The Beatles are the definitive 'all around' band. They tried so many different genres

Well said Chenny, The Beatles definitely have music in many genres, ranging from Rock and Roll to psychedelic rock.

I am Biased towards the Doors but I Know Deep Down it's Led Zeppelin Other Bands I Like AC/DC , Guns N Roses , Motley Crue , Kiss , Van Halen , The Cult , Deep Purple , Jimi Hendrix , David Lee Roth And Heaps a songs i Like from Bands like Twisted Sister , Alice Cooper (Gotta Band Behind Him), Pink Floyd (Always Thought They were Half Rock Half Pop) . I Forgot about The Who & The Stones + Bob Dylan & Live . I Just Don't wanna be Pigeon holed . Haven't Mentioned Other Aus Acts Other Than AC/DC leave it to it's own Category. I'm Sure I've forgotton A couple bands I like to.

For me, bands like Van Halen, Twisted Sister, Alice Cooper and David Le Roth are not Classic Rock

I tend to agree. I love the driving drums of Bonham and the classic vocal work of Plant...they define true Rock. But, the Beatles are the only Band ever to have totally revolutionised the music industry, and it's obvious to see why. Not as individually brilliant insturmentally as Zep, but amazing songwriters and performers. Just as amazing, they sold a bucket load of records/CDs as individuals as well as a group. Few can boast this.

Well, being an ultra-Beatles fan in my spare time, I'd say the Beatles. Because, the way I see it, if there were no Beatles, there would be no Led Zep etc... what kind of a world would that be?!
